I tried something new. I found these chairs. I thought the color and the tufting was beautiful. I painted the legs to compliment the fabric and thought (like I always think) that I would keep them. But as pretty as they were I'm just a Francophile at heart and can't change my addiction to those pretty curvy lines so I posted them on CraigsList. Wow what a response. So many people wanted them and they sold instantly. I guess I had no idea that this type of chair was so popular. Live and learn.

I Have To Say These Are Hot!

I tried something new and I'm so pleased with the result I thought I'd share. This is a set of 6 Louis XVI style oval back chairs. I painted the frames and upholstered the seats. The original fabric on these chairs was strange. It was almost rubber-like, leading me to think they once were restaurant chairs. Well, I was too lazy to remove all of the individual nailheads in order upholster the backs so I tried something new. I took gold leaf paint and painted the fabric. Then I handpainted the peacocks in a slightly darker umber/gold. The result is this awesome aged patina look. I have someone coming to look at them today but won't be heartbroken if she doesn't buy them as I wouldn't mind having them around a bit longer!

Hot New Finds!

I picked up this great 1921 phonograph console (without the phonograph) at an estate sale downt the street. The pictures really don't do it justice. The woodwork and trim is truly beautiful and in the French gray with gold leaf accents it really pops. It's priced at $180. I think it would make an awesome bar. I can see it with some pretty silver candlesticks on top, some martini shakers and crystal stemware. I also have this stunning French writing desk with great vintage patina. It's absolutley lovely and priced at $140.

French Blue Settee and Leopard Bergere Chair

I have been furiously collecting some very special finds for this August when the ever most awesome Traci (A Mix of Madness) and my beautiful friend Jane (Found Collections) will be with me as vendors at the Clayson Farm Show in Yakima. This year the show is on Saturday, August 13th. The link is located on my fave list if any of you are planning to come. It's a wonderful show stuffed full of great vendors. What I like so much about the Clayson flea is even though it's very well attended and the vendors or incredible, it hasn't lost any of the charm that one would come to expect from a true farm show. It's charming and relaxed and you can still find a good deal. So worth the drive east of the mountains. I love to stop in Thorpe at the big fruit stand and antique market on the way there and stock up on fresh fruit for canning and any random vintage finds I ALWAYS find there.

For now, to tide me over until the show, I've been selling some of my favorite pieces that I've been working on. This settee is so unique! I've never seen another one like it. It's priced at $320. I found the leopard Bergere chair with the leopard seat but a hideous old flamestitch fabric on the back. I intended on re-doing the whole chair but the more I looked at the leopard the more I liked it so I just replaced the flamestitch and there you have it. $89.
